The Hurricane - Dorothy Lamour (1937) Tiki 14" x 36" US Movie Poster
From the Classic San Diego Collections.
Here’s one for South Seas and Polynesian Pop enthusiasts. Would look great framed in your Tiki bar...
“For her he challenged all law, defying even the elements! Samuel Goldwyn presents ‘The Hurricane,’” heavy paper advertising poster, 14"w. x 36"h., United Artists, 1937.
Advertising inset poster for the 1937 United Artists film, “The Hurricane,” featuring Dorothy Lamour and Jon Hall. A rare piece, this insert has edge and fold wear, mild fold separations, creases, tape stains, and tears into the image area. Prior touchup has addressed some of these issues, including paper lifts in Jon Hall and Dorothy Lamour's faces. Folded, Fine+.
Based on the novel co-written by James Norman Hall (uncle of the film's leading actor), director John Ford's adventure-romance pits Dorothy Lamour and Jon Hall against racism and a merciless tempest sweeping across the South Seas.
I acquired this through Heritage Auctions, and used this poster in my book, Ninety Years of Classic San Diego Tiki, page 51; and in my new book, Fassionola.
Domestic Buyers: Item will be shipped in a sturdy tube via USPS Priority Mail, insured.
